Kick Out The Jams: Jam & Cheese Pairings w/ Anarchy
What you'll learn in this cheese pairing class:
Anarchy in a Jar was born. Laena’s Brooklyn-fashioned line of spreads have impressed us here at Murray’s, and you’ll be sure to shout their praises, too. Join Laena and our own cheese-obsessed team as we delve into the world of jam making and taste through some of our favorite flavors for the season.Laena McCarthy grew up in New York’s Picturesque Hudson Valley, and spent much of her downtime making traditional jams, preserves, and marmalades with her family. Upon moving to the city to strike out on her own, Laena noticed a growing need for fresh, locally-sourced foods, much like those she remembered from her childhood.
A little Strawberry Balsamic with our goat cheese? Yes, please! A special Chipotle-cinnamon-pear concoction with a melty-smooth Alpine? Don't mind if we do. Join us as we chow down, and get our jam on Murray's style.

Pours and Tours: Beer Tasting and Cave Tour
Not a traditional "class" in any way- much more of a field trip with an opportunity to try good cheese and beer. A tour guide led us through the cheese shop's "caves" (their cheese storage and aging facilities in the basement) which was a quick but informative 20 minute endeavor. We then got the chance to try four cheese and four beers- we were not given any real instruction on this other than a sheet of paper with some information. If you're looking for a fun, easy weeknight activity, I highly recommend this, but it was not the most "educational" class ever.

Bee Cool: Honey and Cheese w/ Bee Raw Honey
Really loved the course. This was the first time I had ever done anything like it and would gladly do it again. The instructors were energetic, passionate about what they were teaching and knowledgeable. A fun experience I look forward to repeating.

Advanced Mozzarella Making
This class was a lot of fun, and very filling! Rynn explained everything from how to make cow's milk mozzarella (the basics), to what's different about most american mozzarella you buy, to how to make delicious variants like straciatella and Burrata. The class was a tasting for the first half (of 6 different cheeses all in the "mozzarella family" plus ricotta as an additional treat) and then a "how to let mozzarella stretch from curds" hands-on class in the second half. Lots of fun! There were some problems with having enough hot water for everyone to stretch the cheese properly, but it was handled gracefully and everyone had fun (and plenty of red wine/ champagne!) anyways. Getting to take some curds home means that I can practice again tonight! The Murray's classroom facility is also great -- clean, easy to see, but intimate.

Class was fun and teacher was knowledgeable about cheese. Not sure the price is worth the class.

Mozzarella Making
The course was fun and different. The instructors were knowledgeable and exciting. I would however say that the room the class was held in was a little tight.

The Harmony of Beer and Cheese
The pours are small but it is a tasting after all. The cheese is filling but I ate dinner before class just in case. The location is perfect so be sure to stroll around the hood after or before. And the shop was my dream come true... Specialty cheeses, beers, chocolate, and coffee. I die!

Pours and Tours: Beer Tasting and Cave Tour
The class was great! I've taken a cheese class from Murray's before but it wasn't as cheap as this. The group was chill and our tour guide was very knowledgeable.
