The instructor was terrible. His instructions were poor. He provided no critiquing during the class so you never knew where you were. He offered to let people submit their drawings so he could provide feedback, but, even then, he barely provided any to the people who submitted their drawings. During the class, He seldom showed what he was doing to finish the drawing, so we couldn’t learn from him. I wish I could get my money back. I gave it 2 stars because I didn’t go to the last 2 classes and perhaps they were better than the ones I attended.

Eric is a patient and insightful teacher. He meets his students at whatever level they are at (in my case a total beginner) and his input over the course really improved my capabilities. I liked the course so much I immediately signed up for the next one. We covered placement, blending, shading, adding volume, shapes, figures and abstract - all essential cornerstones for good drawing.

Instructor was terrific, but having to manage half the class on Zoom and half in person at the same time was far from ideal. The class should commit to all online or all in person.

I wanted to like the class, I really did. I've heard so many positive things about 92y. When you use the phrase "absolute beginner" and you have a teacher who doesn't want to go over the basics, then can you call that a beginner class? Such as, what kinds of brushes to use, how to use them in which situations, what a color wheel is, what complimentary colors are -- these are things I scrambled to learn on the internet in between the 1st and 2nd class, when I could see he wasn't going to teach us these basic things. I suspect he's an excellent artist but just wanted to come in and do his thing and then leave. At one point he lost his temper and yelled (at the class): I can't answer all your questions ... some of this you're just going to have to figure out on your own! Mostly 60ish something women weren't going to have much of a reaction to someone having an outburst 20 years their junior. Most of the time he was very pleasant and I did learn a few things. There were people in the class who had followed him from previous classes working on on-going projects. How could that be called an "absolute beginner class?" I'm grateful to have had a live setting and to interact with others. Also, I enjoyed the chance to get gentle feedback from a nice man who I've heard is skilled at his craft. But most of what I learned in the past month as an absolute beginner was from watching youtube videos or reading books. The experience turned into something stressful for me, something that could've have been avoided with a little more interest and patience as a teacher.

I expected guidance and instruction in this class. We received 3 very short dropbox videos for instruction. In class, the entire time was showing and discussing students' work. I really don't know what my class fee was for.
