Tomo Matsuo

A Japanese-American pianist and conductor, Tomo Matsuo has garnered acclaim around the world as an exciting and versatile performer and is one of his generation’s rising talents. A native of Chicago, Matsuo began his piano studies at age six and made his professional debut with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra at age twelve. Matsuo continued his formal studies at The Juilliard School, Royal Conservatory and Yale University under the tutelage of Boris Berman, Peter Frankl, Yoheved Kaplinsky and John Perry. He currently serves as the Music Director of the 92Y School of Music Orchestra, established in 1917 and the longest-running community-based orchestra in New York City.
