Beginner's Acrylic Painting Workshop: How to Paint an Abstract Painting (Single Session)
NOTE: This is an Online Art Class. Our instructors will work with you over high-quality live video and teach you to make art from the comfort of your home. We will return to in-person art classes while continuing online art classes when the uncertainties around Coronavirus are resolved.
With a paintbrush in hand, enjoy this inspiring online art workshop as you learn, explore and master how to paint an abstract painting. Through inspiring and engaging art instruction with a professional artist from our #1-rated NYC art studio, learn a variety of painting techniques while tapping into your authentic self-expression as you make a beautiful painting of your own.
Connect with a warm community of people and enjoy the relaxation of painting while you discover your artistic voice through this personally guided zoom painting class that will ignite your creativity, provide meaningful connection to others, and provide relaxation through abstract painting.
In this beginner friendly online painting workshop, you will receive step-by-step, encouraging art instruction through group and individualized one-on-one instruction.
Deepen your understanding of painting in this online acrylic painting class experience that will leave you feeling relaxed, inspired, and able to express yourself as you learn how to paint your very own colorful abstract painting. Walk away at the end of your painting workshop the very same day with a finished masterpiece to hang in your home.
In our online painting workshop, YOU will:
- Learn how to paint an abstract acrylic painting as you receive step by step instruction and explore painting techniques such as layering, building texture, repetitive shape making, composition, color mixing, contrast, brushwork, textures, and personal style.
- Receive both step by step group instruction and one-on-one expert artistic guidance as you enjoy our nurturing and non-judgmental online art studio while your art instructor provides individualized guidance for your creative, artistic growth according to your needs and interests.
- Escape the everyday and make your painting class your peaceful oasis! Receive the lasting health benefits of painting classes, including greater relaxation, stress relief, focus and mental clarity.
Materials you will need for this class:
- Stretched Canvas or Canvas board - Recommended sizes between 9x12 and 16 x 20
- Acrylic Paints (White, Yellow, Red, Blue, and any other favorite colors you may have)
- Variety of Brushes (different sizes to make various lines and marks)
- Cup of Water
- Palette for paints
- Palette Knife
- Optional: Table Easel, Acrylic Markers
Online Zoom Art Class Materials:
All online classes are now held online in our virtual art classrooms using zoom classrooms. Art class materials should be ordered ahead of the first class meeting time. Or you may use materials you already have.

Refund Policy
Class tuition is neither non-refundable nor transferable. No refunds will be issued after registration and payment. In case of a Medically Certified illness, a credit will be issued after receipt of your physician’s documentation. The value of the credit will be for the balance of the remaining class sessions with an additional deduction of a $95 registration fee. Credit may be used up to 12 months.
If after your first class you are dissatisfied with the quality of your course, a written note must be submitted within 1 business day after your first class. After receiving your note, refund of class tuition will be reviewed by our staff. If a refund is granted, processing of refunds requires 8-10 weeks. A 5% nonrefundable processing fee will be applied.
Course Cancellations
Although course cancellation is quite rare, The school reserves the right to cancel classes or change instructor assignments and makes every effort to notify students in advance. If enrollment goals are not met, a course may be canceled up to 1 business day before the first scheduled class. In the event of cancellation, a refund or credit is granted. On occasion, a course start-date will be pushed back if enrollment goals are not met. In this instance, you will receive a credit for the price of the class that did not take place.
Please note that there will be NO exceptions to this under any circumstances.
Make-up Policy
Unfortunately, The school does not offer any makeups for classes missed. However, if the student wants to get the most from the course and the absence, they can tell the instructor when they will be absent and the instructor can provide some guidance on exercises to practice while away.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
