Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this cooking techniques class:

Make Your Own AT Home: Kitchen Sink Quiche for Earth Day

We’ll be celebrating Earth Day 2021 by reducing food waste. This class is all about make-ahead breakfast (or lunch and anytime snack) options that use up odds and ends from your fridge and pantry. Kitchen Sink Quiche is one of my favorite conduits for transforming scraps into good eats.

In this virtual cooking workshop, you will first prepare a versatile pastry dough that can be used for all sorts of pies. You’ll also have the option of preparing a gluten free hash brown crust to hold your quiche filling. You will then raid your own fridge to find the ingredients you need to create a quiche with everything but the kitchen sink. I’ll walk you through a fool proof quiche assembly for any ingredient. Then you’ll bake your quiche for an incredible meal and learn how to savor it for another day.

What you need:

  • all purpose flour
  • butter (or vegetable shortening, earth balance or coconut oil)
  • water
  • ice
  • salt
  • eggs
  • milk, cream or half and half
  • any and all ingredients you have on hand (leftovers, veggies, oil, condiments, spices, canned goods, cheese, etc.)
  • mixing bowl
  • knife
  • wooden spoon or rubber spatula
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • rolling pin (or clean water bottle or wine bottle)
  • pie plate, tart pans, muffin tin, or ramekins of any size
  • parchment paper or foil
  • pie weights or dried beans or ceramic dishes
  • sheet pan, roasting pan or baking sheet

School Notes:

After you purchase your tickets, please reach out to CourseHorse or the school for any food allergies, or restrictions.
