What you'll learn in this botanical art class:

The Secret Colors of Plants: Dyeing with Avocados, Seaweed, Onions, Nuts, and Flowers


Discover the history and basics of dyeing fiber with plants by extracting pink shades from avocado seeds, golden to burgundy colors from onion skins, tan hues from nut shells and seaweed, and a diverse range of colors from dried flowers to obtain a range of hues. Each participant will receive five silk scarves and a natural dyes manuscript.

Notes:

  • Please bring your registration confirmation and a photo ID to the security desk at the 1000 Washington Avenue entrance, and you will be directed to your classroom. 
  • In advance of class, show registration confirmation for free admission to the Garden. 
  • For drivers, the parking lot is located at 900 Washington Avenue. 
  • Allow 10 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the Education building.
