What you'll learn in this tour class:

With great views, amazing architecture, and deep links to the 19th century, visiting Green-Wood Cemetery is an amazing way to step back into the past. As the final resting place for many New Yorkers this two-hour tour runs the gamut from Coney Island showmen to famous politicians to eccentric poets to Bowery Boys gang leaders and more.

In addition to learning about some of the notable people interred there we’ll also visit the highest natural point of Brooklyn, learn how the cemetery became home to flocks of parrots, and talk about how the creation of the cemetery reflects the creation of metropolitan New York.

This walk meets at Green-Wood Cemetery main entrance, 500 25th Street in Brooklyn. We will meet near the arches at the top of the drive by the green bike racks.

A portion of the proceeds from the tour support Green-Wood Cemetery.

Refund Policy

Note: This provider has a temporary cancellation policy for COVID-19 related cancellations which is as follows:

I'm currently offering credits for any cancellations made seven days or fewer to a class starting. I can't afford to do cash refunds right now, but credits are fine if the spot is canceled any time before the start date (even if less than 72 hours). Spots that are canceled more than seven days before the class starts are eligible for cash refunds.

 ----

Original cancellation policy (non-COVID-19):

If you're looking for a refund or class credit, you need to back out of the class a full week before it starts. (No exceptions!) We know it's draconian, but since we aren't charging an arm and a leg and have to buy all our materials in advance, it's kinda hard to deal with last-minute bailings.

We also can't transfer registrations to a future session of the class. Sorry!

Instead of dropping out if you have a schedule conflict, a better idea is to ask around and see if any of your friends want the spot. We can't give you a refund less than a week out, even if there's a wait list for the class.

Regarding bad weather, we generally only cancel classes if the subway system stops running. If traveling during snowstorms might be an issue for you, please take this into account before registering for a class.
