What you'll learn in this personal finance class:

Kachina Myers is joining us once again, by special request, for a workshop aimed at helping clinicians understand money transactions in treatment. We will explore the dynamics of desire and envy as they get played out when setting, raising, and collecting fees and payments. Kachina's will inspire us with her unflappable commitment to facing head on the last taboo in psychotherapy.

Even the most seasoned therapists often miss opportunities to give the issue of money in therapy the attention it deserves. Money is not a simple business transaction between therapist and patient, but a complex interplay of power, desire, connection, and separateness for both parties. It is also the one distinct area where the therapist’s need is acknowledged and expressed.

Participants will learn:
  • how financially empowering ourselves helps our clients
  • the clinical and symbolic meaning of money in the therapeutic exchange
  • how to indentify personal beliefs and messages about money and how they impact the transference/counter-transference
  • how to use concrete issues around payment , non-payment, fee increases, and fee policies to further our patients’ treatment and therapeutic goals
