Understanding metrics, stats and social analytics is key to creating, monitoring and adjusting social strategy and goals. With this in mind, digital marketers must know what they are looking for, which stats impact their previously set goals and how they can use analytics to fine-tune their content, engage with users and enhance their social presence. This class will cover the basics of understanding social metrics, their importance and how to use them to make stand out social presences, topnotch campaigns and stronger connections with users.

Takeaways

  • An understanding of how to find basic analytics for social media platforms including: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Examples of how to present social analytics internally and for clients
  • A knowledge of what the metrics being reported mean, i.e. impressions vs. reach vs. engagement
  • Tips on how to use analytics to enhance and advance social media strategies and approaches
  • How to increase content reach through social advertising (this will be a small/brief portion)

Preparation

  • This course will occur completely online using Zoom and Slack
  • You will need access to a laptop or computer with a working webcam and microphone as well as a strong internet connection
  • Pre-work and course set up information will be emailed to all students signed up around 24 hours before (and again an hour before) your course launches

Understanding of and experience with posting and monitoring on social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. Do not need to have analytics background or focus.

Social Media Monitoring & Analytics: How, What, & Why

The instructor was basically reading off the presentation slides, so I didn't feel like an instructor was necessary. I could have just read the deck myself. She grazed and toplined the material so I felt like it wasn't very informative. It's all information that you can google and find the answer. I guess it could be a good class if you are an absolute beginner in social media analytics, but it's not helpful if you already have a foundation. The only upside, was she mentioned a few third party apps and companies that could be potential partners. Otherwise, not very helpful.

I learned a lot! Time well spent, but there was so much to cover I felt like we could have saved time by not taking so long on the student introductions. It's interesting to know what your fellow classmates are doing, but more time spent on the topic would have been time/money better spent. The teach was very knowledgeable.

The teacher was excellent I really liked her but the material covered wasn't what I was looking for. I could see this as something useful if it was a continuing class that gets in depth and detailed and slower, starting from the bottom working its way up. I personally need more time with an instructor and subject. Three hours wasn't enough with all that can and could be covered in social media marketing.
