Deborah Mills

Teaches at Deborah Mills Woodcarving

A professional carver since 1991, Deborah Mills studied wood sculpture at the Art Students League of New York and spent three years training with master carver Erik Fridstroem at the Viking Ships Museum in Oslo, Norway.

Deborah has taught woodcarving classes and workshops at The American Folk Art Museum, Peters Valley Craft Center, 3rd Ward, Eastfield Village and the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. She appeared on the Martha Stewart show in 2011.

This is a really wonderful class with good basic technique and learning of tools for beginners. Debbie has some solid technical expertise and provides attention to the student while giving them the freedom to explore their artistic interests. Highly recommend this course, especially if you are interested in working with your hands, and learning from someone who has apprenticed with a Swedish wood carving master. Make sure to take the time to work outside of the studio hours if you can to make the most of the course, Debbie has a lot to offer, so try to make the most of it.
