Jess Schreibstein

Teaches at Brooklyn Brainery

Jess Schreibstein learned to knit from her great grandmother over 15 years ago and hasn't stopped her exploration of textiles since. She has studied batik, embroidery, and spinning; completed a weaving and natural dye residency in Oaxaca, Mexico last spring; been featured on the popular knitting blog Fringe Association; started up the knitting club at NPR; and is a contributor to the inaugural issue of Knit Wit Magazine. She also started the DC Food Swap, a community event for home cooks to barter for food they made or grew themselves.
