Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this business training:

Class will meet over Zoom with some in-person opportunities to gather and collaborate for LA people as well as virtual co-writing rooms for online students in the "writing camp."

We are proud to welcome back Music Supervisor Lindsay Wolfington (One Tree Hill, The Royals, Ghost Whisperer, Atypical, her hit Netflix show Virgin River, the To All the Boys I've Loved Before film trilogy, etc) as a featured instructor for the SUMMER 2023 session! Lindsay Wolfington again was recognized by The Guild of Music Supervisors Awards for Outstanding Music Supervision.

Chances to submit for multiple critical listening sessions and on live briefs for music supervisors, for consideration by sync agency rosters, multiple libraries, and more.

JUST  CONFIRMED: MULTIPLE LICENSING AGENCIES

Learn not only what sync licensing agency does, enjoy the opportunity to have your music considered for representation.

ABOUT THIS ESSENTIAL CLASS

Learn from some of TV's top Music Supervisors, Publishers, and Songwriter/Producers all about how to write, prepare, approach, pitch, and license songs to television, commercials, film, games, and more.  In this unique interactive class, learn from the other side of the desk about how best to build the catalog, relationships, and business acumen to place your songs in the various media.

Class will include

  • a thorough overview of the world of sync licensing, from the creative to the business
  • multiple listening and feedback sessions with some of the following: music supervisors, producers, and accomplished/placed artists.
  • multiple opportunities to submit for live briefs
  • a virtual "writing camp" on multiple briefs for a licensing opportunity through a partnership with BMG publishing. In this camp, you'll both get to co-write with class members and, if you choose, submit music you create on your own.
  • a session with a music business attorney with a resume of more than 150 top 10 songs or albums to answer all your questions on the business of music (and not just sync)
  • gain insight on your own music from producers with extensive success and experience in all aspects of sync
  • assignments designed to help you write and re-write for film, tv, games, and commercials and to help you gain clarity about the role of sync in the creative focus and the business of your music
  • each week's class meets live over Zoom with the chance to ask questions of the guests in real time--not simply pre-recorded videos you watch.
  • full archives of each week's class are available for your review at a private class site. At that site will be links to all live briefs and submission opportunities, as well as a platform to communicate with class members.

Full FALL 2022 Guests to be announced soon, and will include but not be limited to Music Supervisor Lindsay Wolfington, ZYNC Sync Agency, Blue Buddha Sync Agency, Alex Nickson senior VP for Television Music at DreamWorks Animation, attorney Ben McLane, members of The Soundlings Production Team, the artist RENAE, and more.

There will be actual pitching opportunities with direct feedback from music supervisors, placement houses, and publishers.

you've billed 5 stars as 'incredible'. no, the course isn't 'incredible', but it's definitely 'very good'. it's a solid course packed w/info, and enjoyable. i'd recommend it to anyone who wants to know how music supervisors approach indie artists' song material for possible placement in t.v.
