Veronica Barker Barzel Kelly

Teaches at The Art League

Biography:Veronica Barker-Barzel was born in the beautiful city of Washington, DC, 1980. With her father working for the U.S. Navy, she spent most of her “growing up years” over-seas. After traveling throughout Europe and parts of Asia, Veronica returned to the United States in 2006. She graduated from University of Maryland University College with a BA in English and History in 2007. Veronica's family provided much of her early art education. She took her first Art League etching class with Penny Barringer and has been addicted to all forms of printmaking since. Veronica completed her Post-Baccalaureate in Fine Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2014. She found MICA to be an amazing experience; being amongst fellow artists, juggling ideas and inspirations, and learning in an academic art environment. While attending MICA, she was a graduate Teacher Assistant for Eva Wylie in printmaking. She was selected as  a member of Printmakers Inc. in 2016 and was juried into the Torpedo Factory Artist's Association in 2017. Veronica's style is a fusion of the classics with both urban and fantasy influences. She incorporates symbolism throughout her art including both Western and Eastern cultural influences, and often anchoring her art-work with Celtic knot-work incorporated in the borders.
