Teaches at Work-Life Spanish

Melissa was born in New York and raised by her parents who are from the Dominican Republic. Growing up bilingual, she always knew she wanted to pursue languages for the rest of her life. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and French from SUNY Cortland and recently received her Master’s degree in Spanish and French from George Mason University. Her language teaching experiences vary immensely. She has taught English at the secondary school level to French speakers in France, she has taught French at the beginner and intermediate levels at George Mason University, and has taught Spanish at the high school level in Prince William County. Throughout these experiences, she's learned that learning the language itself is only one component of language learning. In addition to learning languages, you really gain new perspectives about different cultures that surround the language. She is excited to help her  students gain new ways of thinking through language!
