Class Description

Description

Develop a strong, practical foundation in project management knowledge, techniques, and tools through this hands-on, interactive workshop that comprehensively covers the complete project lifecycle from initiation through closure. Organizations operating in today's highly competitive business environment face increasing pressure to undertake more projects to remain competitive and meet strategic objectives. Unfortunately, many of these organizations lack sufficient numbers of skilled, trained project managers capable of successfully managing complex work. This intensive seminar teaches you the critical project management tools, techniques, and processes that have been proven essential for consistent success. Through engaging lectures, collaborative discussions, and practical exercises, you'll learn the comprehensive set of skills required to manage projects effectively. While aligned with the Project Management Institute's (PMI) widely recognized framework, this course emphasizes practical, real-world application of concepts over pure theory. You'll return to your workplace with immediately applicable knowledge and proven tools to successfully launch your projects and complete them on time, within budget, and meeting all requirements.

Appropriate Participants for This Course:

  • Individuals who are newly entering the project management profession and require foundational knowledge
  • Professionals in other roles who manage projects as a secondary responsibility, often called "accidental" project managers, want to develop more formal competency
  • Business analysts, subject-matter experts from any industry, managers overseeing projects, and experienced project managers interested in reviewing and refreshing current best practices, tools, and techniques

How You Will Advance Your Career:

  • Establish strong project foundations from the beginning that maximize success probability and minimize early delays and cost overruns
  • Master systematic approaches for gathering, analyzing, and documenting project requirements that ensure clear stakeholder alignment
  • Clearly understand the complementary roles of the project manager, business analyst, team members, sponsors, and other key participants in successful project execution
  • Create comprehensive, integrated project plans that define realistic scope boundaries, achievable schedules, accurate budgets, and identified risks, then successfully execute these plans through to completion
  • Implement effective methods for monitoring project progress, identifying variance from plan, and reporting status to stakeholders with accuracy and transparency
  • Build trust and credibility with your project team through clear direction and support, and earn respect from senior management through consistent delivery of results
