Reviews for Night Photography Classes in NYC

Night Photography Classes in NYC are rated 4.7 stars based on 68 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • I feel very fortunate to have stumbled onto the Art of Intuitive Photography workshops. On a whim I signed up for the Mastering Manual Mode At Night workshop and—wow—it was a win for me. For two hours Ocie guided my learning with thoughtful insights, suggestions for technical improvement, honest critique, and humor as I learned various techniques and strategies to take advantage of nighttime lighting, shadows, reflections, and so on. The two hours seemed to wiz by in a few minutes in the immersive but safe space Ocie created for my learning experience. I am looking forward to exploring other learning opportunities with Art of Intuitive Photography. Check them out if you’re looking to up your photography game.
  • Mindy was excellent, she explained everything in detail and allowed us to practice our new skill. But communication from Coursehorse about the exact location of the course was very sketchy. I almost was walking away, thinking that 20 Lincoln Center was the address, but the actual class was outdoors, near the fountain in front of Lincoln Center and the folks at the gate, correctly, had to clue about any photography class. Just before walking away, Mindy sent me a text message and that's how I connected to her. There were no explanations about how the class would be organised, what equipment to bring. Very disorganised.
  • Fun class. The instructor was very helpful and supportive.
  • It was very great and immersive class. I learned so much in such a short time with hand on experience. Ocie is awesome! Highly recommend.
  • This was was super helpful, and Mindy was great! She's enthusiastic, patient, quite knowledgeable, and so so helpful. I recommend this class without reservation.
  • Mindy is great, her teaching style is simple to follow and i learned to make adjustments in my camera settings less than 2 hrs , now im shooting manual with confidence , highly recommend her class. Thanks
  • Really excellent class! I love the student centered approach that the teachers have in instructing their courses. I’ve taken classes with other people but I’d recommend JP Teaches Photo over all the others.
  • Mindy is a great teacher. This class gave me more confidence in night photography.
  • Mindy started the class on time. Her method of teaching is exactly as she describes it- intuitive. Within minutes, the class was able to capture night time shots that we would have never been able to take without Mindy's guidance. She quickly dismisses the idea of needing a tripod for night time photography. I even got to learn how to take beautiful photo art/photo writing pictures. Highly recommended class. Thank You Mindy!
  • It was a wonderful evening - Mindy was patient, available and present for each person in the class. She kept it moving, and had honored each of our quirks and thoughts with grace and kindness
  • I'm a self taught photographer but always looking to learn more in my creative director career. The Digital Photography II - Mastering Manual Mode at Night Course was exceptional. Our instructor - Mindy Véissid, gave us so many amazing tips, on how to capture what we like in Night-mode. Since taking the class, I have a strong handle on how much light is required in each image at night. I truly recommend the first class and second Digital photography class for anyone who wants to excel in photography. Thank you and embrace your inner photographer. Abstract photographer - GTGTART
  • Just wanted to log my review of Mindy’s night shooting class. I’ve been a photograph for 40 years, with many exhibitions. Mindy’s class has totally - and simply - retooled my approach to night shooting to great effect.
  • It was an exceptional class. I was lucky to be the only one attending that day and hence, got to learn a lot more. Zim provides a lot of details with demonstrative examples that I found extremely useful for low light / night photography. You can read all you want but first hand, face-face lessons surpasses everything. Already looking forward to attending Zim's fall course in October :-) As she says - it is all about the composition!
  • Great Class, great instructor. Zim was so helpful and gave me some really good tips and advice. I plan on taking more classes with them.
  • It was fun and easy to learn, she is a true creative spirit!
  • Mindy was very knowledgeable and really helped me understand how to shoot at night, without a tripod! Highly recommend.
  • I had a great experience in this class. Mindy was both extremely professional and personable. I will not hesitate to take other classes from Art of Intuitive Photography.
  • Mindy is an amazing teacher, you will learn very useful tips and tricks
  • Mindy is a wonderful teacher. She teaches in a totally original manner. Very inspiring.
  • Night Photography: Philadelphia After Dark

I have been to a number of Princeton Photo Workshops. They have all been amazing. The most recent one I did was Nighttime Photography in Philadelphia with David Hartz. He was a knowledgeable, friendly, and patient instructor. It was a great evening. I also highly recommend Alan Kesselhaut's Lightroom course. It really clarified both the organizational and editing features of the program. Alan is also extremely knowledgeable and open to questions about anything related to photography or post-processing. It was one of the most valuable courses I have taken. Also recommended are Alan's Holidays Lights of New York workshop and Frank Veronsky's Portrait Photography. These courses provide more individual attention than you would receive in one of those big workshops at a convention center. They are well organized. The instructors are fabulous, and the courses are a good value.
  • I finally managed to attend the ""manual mode at night class"" yesterday and it certainly was worth the wait! Mindy is an amazing teacher. She is very patient with her students but also I love the fact that we get just enough of the essential theory and then dive in the practice. She really showed us the magic tricks to be able to take amazing pictures without flash or tripod at night, but also opened our eyes to things that would photograph very well. I really look forward to practicing this more. I am also certain that I will take another class as I jut love her teaching style. In a nutshell, I really recommend this class!
  • LOOOOOVED MY TEACHER, MINDY. SO HANDS ON. WILL DEFINITELY BE TAKING ALL MY CLASSES WITH HER. SHE IS THE REAL MCCOY OF PHOTOGRAPHY. I HIGHLY RECOMEND HER CLASSES.
  • Mindy is so passionate with her work and her way to see the photography that is impossible not to have a great experiencie. Really enjoyed and learn. wish to stay more to learn and experience more with her!
  • Mindy is such an inspiring and truly intuitive teacher the course was great and I benefited a lot from her
  • Great information and inspiration.
  • Truth of the matter I loved your class. The mix of information, hands on approach and your personal care of each of us made it an enriching experience.
  • Mindy was amazing in her approach and method of teaching. My daughter and I loved her and everything about the class. She made it simple. Thank you Mindy!!
  • The tutor was very knowledgeable about photography and was extremely friendly, creating a very open and relaxing environment for learning.
  • Zim was awesome. She really made the class interactive and fun. She makes me want to run out and buy a much better camera. Highly recommend.
  • Photography At Night

Awesome teacher, very knowledgeable and able to translate this beautifully. Highly recommend!
  • Magic in the Moonlight

The instruction was well worth my time, even on a cold night. The instructor is clearly knowledgeable and experienced in area of photography, and on top of that adjusts instruction based on individual needs. She incorporated creativity into the class and that made for a really fun and interesting night. Overall I absolutely recommend this! Make sure you know how the camera works before going to the class, that will help move things along quickly in order to get to the fun stuff.'
