Description
What you'll learn in this modern dance class:
This course will introduce students to modern dance based on the Horton technique, building basic vocabulary, strength, and alignment to prepare for beginner level modern.
Attire: Comfortable wear that is form fitting
Example: leotards, tights, leggings, dance shorts, tank tops
Students may wear warm ups (sweat pants, sweater) to warm up when the weather is cooler
Agenda: (All fundamentals will be covered & order subject to readjustment based on student progress)

- Session 1: Introductions, Learn simple Horton warm-up, Flat back
- Session 2: Laterals
- Session 3: Release swing
- Session 4: Leg swings
- Session 5: Review sessions 1-4
- Session 6: Coccyx balance
- Session 7: Begin learning Fortification 1
- Session 8: Continue learning Fortification 1
- Session 9: Review sessions 6-9
- Session 10: Primitive squat
- Session 11: Stag
- Session 12: Lateral T
- Session 13: Review sessions 10-13
- Session 14: Intro to jumps across the floor
- Session 15: Wrap-up and review of entire course
