Teaches at Manhattan Fencing Center
Andrew started fencing at age 8 and was a competitive fencer for fourteen years. He was a member of the Belarusian National team from 1981 to 1987 and won the National Championship three times during those years. He took part in many National and International competitions including Senior World Cups.
Simultaneously with training, he studied in the State University of Physical Education and Sport Minsk (Belarus) where he was distinguished as an extraordinary person in the sphere of physical education and sport. Andrew is familiar with many sciences related to physical training and sport such as physiology, psychology, human anatomy, biochemistry, etc. Upon graduation, he took the postgraduate course and defended his Ph.D. dissertation.
He started his coaching career in 1988 as a coach at Belarusian school of Olympic reserve. Since 1995 Andrew was one of the coaches working with the National team and many of his students become National Champions, National team members and winners at many National and International competitions including World and European Championships (A.Romanovski -1995 Senior National Champion, D.Lapkes -1995 Junior European Champion ,A.Surinto – 1998 bronze medalist at Junior World Championship and in 2000 Belarusian team took silver medal at senior European championship).
In August 2001, Andrew came to United States and continued his work as a head saber coach in Medeo Fencing Club. He is also a head fencing coach at the Ridge High School, Basking Ridge, NJ. During his work in the United States, Andrew prepared many Nationally recognized students and many medalists at NAC and National championships. His best student Michael Mills – 2008 Cadet National Champion, 2009 Junior Olympic bronze medalist and 2009 member of Cadet National Team.
