Cary Fowler & Sandy McLeod

Teaches at New York Botanical Garden

Cary Fowler is an American agriculturalist and the Senior Advisor of the Global Crop Diversity Trust. He was instrumental in the creation of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, which currently houses samples of more than 783,000 distinct crop varieties. Fowler earned the Right Livelihood Award, Vavilov Medal from the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, a Heinz Award, Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings" award, and the William L. Brown Award for Excellence in Genetic Resource Conservation. 

He is the focus of the documentary, Seeds of Time, which centers on Fowler's work to protect the world's food supply and face the challenges of seed protection and genetic diversity efforts as a result of climate change.
