Bridget Vizoso

Teaches at New York Botanical Garden

Bridget Vizoso's lush designs owe much to a childhood immersed in the tropics of Florida. After graduating from Parsons School of Design with a degree in Fashion Design, she traveled extensively, eventually taking a job at the renowned Kelways Nursery in Somerset, England. Representing Kelways, Bridget participated in the Chelsea Flower Show, where her peony displays garnered a Silver Medal. With more than 18 years in the field of event design-and backed by a near encyclopedic knowledge of flowers and plants—Bridget has staged buzz-worthy events that include fundraisers for orphans, elaborate destination weddings and corporate events. Bridget draws inspiration from the flowers she works with, many of which are foraged adding to the exotic nature of her arrangements. "Working with flowers marries collage and sculpture in an orchestrated dance of shape, texture, movement and color." Bridget explains, "Its transience is a perfect metaphor for the beauty and fragility of life."

I found this class to be fun and informative. The teacher, Bridget was very sweet and knew her stuff about flowers. The wine and little snacks were very good as well. Getting to keep the huge flower arrangement was a bonus. I would be interested to do this again if you had flower arrangements for potted plants.

The centerpiece was so thoughtful and the instructor really did a nice job of making it easy for everyone. Plus we got to learn a few bonus tricks which really added to our at home knowledge of designing centerpieces.

The class ended a half hour early. Barely had time to eat or drink (which was part of the cost of the class). And the instructor was not that friendly nor particularly helpful. She moved quickly through each step and my flowers are already wilting, even though I changed the water and kept them in air conditioning all day.
