Established in 2003, the Bedford Cheese Shop has spent the last 10+ years building a neighborhood store that welcomes both new and familiar faces. Based on old-world ideals with a loyalty to our family of local and international food producers, we are a small, independently run business dedicated to the time honored traditions of the culinary and agricultural world. Appreciating the seasonality of cheese production, we work directly with farms in order to select cheeses at their perfect peak so as to provide a constantly evolving array of prime goodies. Committed to our small staff of knowledgeable cheesemongers, we guarantee experts in the field who are happy to teach through taste, and have been trained in the art of properly maintaining cheese so that you can be assured of receiving the highest-quality products available. In 2012, we opened our second location in the Gramercy area of lower Manhattan which includes a 15-foot cheese case, three aging facilities, and an education and event space - the Homestead. Proud of our focus on individualized, education-based customer service, we invite you to join us and learn about what we have to offer. Come and taste our cheeses, take a class with us, or just admire what we have to offer.

Great class with a great teacher!

Attended: Scotch Whisky and Cheese

Graham was very knowledgeable and the selections of 3 scotches and 5 cheeses were excellent and varied. I would definitely recommend this class. A 7:00 start would have been a little better, but it worked out well.

Attended: Cheese and Chocolate with Cacao Prieto of Brooklyn

Could have done more with the wine, not great "bang-for-the-buck".

Loved the instructor very knowledgeable.

Attended: Mozzarella Making

Very interesting and fun. We were given wine to drink, and cheese to sample. A history of mozzarella and what goes into making it. We then got to make our own and take some curd home with us to make more. Our instructor Grahm was friendly and helpful; very approachable. We had a great evening!

Really fun class, great for a date or a night out with friends. Gives you the basics, but you won't be able to start making mozzarella at home from milk.

The teacher really knows his material and answered most questions. Just needs it to move along in a fun way.

Attended: Mozzarella Making

The class was shorter than advertised. We were sent home with curd (to make our own cheese at home) which was great but some of us had requested to make the cheese in class instead of bringing the curd home. We were told that there was no time/we copulent do that. But we ended the class early! I would never pay full price for this class.

Attended: Whiskey 101

The class was fine but I was under the impression that it was going to be a whiskey class, where we'd learn more about whiskey, not about cheese.
